OUR DOCTORS

Dr. Charles E. Miller is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is in private practice in metropolitan Chicago where he specializes in the treatment of infertile couples and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Miller is an internationally renowned expert in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and in the treatment of infertility. He is the founder and Medical Director of The Advanced IVF Institute, The Advanced Gynecologic Surgery Institute andThe Advanced Fertility Preservation Institute. His practice joined the CCRM Fertility Clinic Network in 2023. 

He is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medical Education from Northwestern University and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Miller then earned his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Miller is a past president (2008) of the AAGL (formerly the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists), the largest association of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeons dedicated to the research and advancement of minimally invasive gynecologic procedures. Dr. Miller is also a past president (2011-2013) of the ISGE (International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy).

Dr. Miller is the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and since 2010, Director of the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Program at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, IL). He is the current president of the Foundation of the AAGL. He is also a faculty member of the Clinical Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Immunology, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. 

Dr. Miller’s ongoing dedication to developing young minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons earned him the AAGL’s honorable John F. Steege, MD, Mentorship Award in 2018. This award recognizes an AAGL member who has provided support and encouragement to the next generation of surgeons in the specialty of minimally invasive gynecology for at least 10 years.

In 2022, Dr. Miller received the AAGL esteemed distinction of Honorary Chair for his exemplary service to the AAGL and the outstanding contributions he has made in the field of reproductive medicine and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Kirsten Sasaki is a gynecologic surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is in private practice with Dr. Charles E. Miller and Dr. Molly McKenna in metropolitan Chicago.

After completing her residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, she was accepted as a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellow through the AAGL, the world’s largest organization dedicated to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. 

Under the mentorship of Dr. Miller, she completed her fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, IL). Over the course of her two-year fellowship, Dr. Sasaki received training from a diverse group of surgeons specializing in General Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology. 

Dr. Sasaki is an active contributor to the medical research community, publishing numerous articles in peer‐reviewed medical journals, authoring multiple book chapters and presenting at various national conferences. 

Her current research interests include decreasing and managing post‐operative pain, robotic‐assisted surgical teaching, bleeding rates after laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy and laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Dr. Sasaki prides herself on providing excellent patient care, and has been awarded for her compassion in medicine. She treats her patients with the same empathy and regard as she would her friends- listening to their symptoms and then describing their diagnosis and treatment options in a way that is easy to understand. Dr. Sasaki employs visual aids, such as drawings and written summaries of discussions to help her patients feel more at ease. 

Additionally, Dr. Sasaki understands that surgery can be daunting and it’s normal to feel nervous, but she calmly reassures her patients that she is not nervous because she performs surgery almost daily.

Dr. Sasaki currently welcomes new patients in Naperville and Park Ridge for general gynecologic issues and exams, and is a sought after referral choice for minimally‐invasive gynecologic procedures.

Dr. Mary (Molly) McKenna is a gynecologic surgeon in private practice with Drs. Charles E. Miller and Kirsten Sasaki in metropolitan Chicago. Dr. McKenna received her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and furthered her medical training with a residency in OB/GYN at Loyola University Medical Center (Maywood, IL), where she received Outstanding Resident Achievement Awards in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Subsequently, she completed a rigorous two-year Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, IL) under the guidance of Drs. Miller and Sasaki.


Dr. McKenna is trained in conventional laparoscopy and DaVinci Surgical Systems and performs procedures including, but not limited to, minimally invasive hysterectomy, myomectomy, removal of ovarian cysts and the excision of endometriosis.


Dr. McKenna has presented at national conferences and been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Her current research initiatives concentrate on improved fertility after ovarian cystectomy and evaluating pregnancy outcomes after cesarean section scar (isthmocele) removal.


Dr. McKenna believes women should not have to live their lives in pain and encourages her patients to become an active member of their own care team. She dedicates time to listen to her patients so they can work together to improve their pain and enhance overall quality of life through both medical and surgical treatment.


Recognizing the significance of fertility concerns among her patients, particularly those with infertility, Dr. McKenna places a great deal of importance on open communication about fertility goals.This proactive approach enables patients to participate in the shared-decision making process and ensures their treatment plans support those goals.


Dr. McKenna is accepting new patients in Naperville and Park Ridge for general gynecologic issues and exams, as well as surgical referrals for minimally‐invasive gynecologic procedures.

OUR NURSES AND MA’S

Our fertility team will take the time to answer all questions and insure patients fully understand and are comfortable with their treatment plan. They will draw your blood in the morning, review your ultrasound with you, do your insemination and call you with your results. They are great listeners, educators and truly understand your desire to have children. They are here to help patients as they move through the treatment process. Very quickly, patients realize just how much they care and how knowledgeable they are.

THE ADVANCED IVF INSTITUTE

Our staff of dedicated nurses and certified medical assistants seek to meet your needs, from the emotional to the physical. We understand the challenges you are facing, and it is the goal of our nurses and support staff to lead you through these challenges by offering their vast knowledge, understanding, and compassion.

Our nurses and certified medical assistants are highly trained and experienced in the reproductive health field. Your day-to-day treatment will be coordinated by a member of our nursing team. In addition to providing hands-on care, the nurse serves as a liaison between the patient and the rest of the care team, including our embryologists, lab technicians and ultrasonographers. The clinical staff is here to educate, guide, and provide support while demonstrating patience, understanding and empathy.

“Our procedure area consists of three peri-op rooms which provide the utmost privacy and comfort for patients. Our procedure suites contain state-of-the-art equipment and have direct, secured access to the embryology lab. The post anesthesia area has been designed to allow patients to recover quietly with their partner.”

Many of our nurses have obtained advanced degrees, including certification in reproductive health and surgery. Our nursing staff represents over 200 years of experience. This level of training and experience has resulted in a staff that is totally committed to providing our patients every possible option to achieve pregnancy.
